• ISOLATION. MELANCHOLY. OBSERVATION.
My work is drawn to the quiet rituals of day drinkers in chain pubs — spaces where solitude and companionship blur beneath muted lighting and the hum of midday conversation. I’m interested in the emotional texture of these moments: the melancholy, the intimacy, the unspoken bonds formed in routine. I begin with observational sketches, often made during the day, capturing fragments of gesture and posture as they appear and disappear. These studies evolve into larger works where memory takes over — figures are loosely reimagined, and skin tones are painted in watercolor, not from life but from the impression left behind. It’s a process that allows emotion to seep into the image, leaving room for tenderness, ambiguity, and the human need to be seen.
